Michael has been a magician since he was very young, later becoming a member of AIM (Art In Magic). In the late 90’s, he was exposed to 'mentalism' (magic of the mind) and that challenge stirred his curiosity. After intensive study in the field, Michael put together his own mentalism show, which he has performed across the country. He incorporates all the elements of mentalism i.e. mind reading, memory feats, mathematical ability, body language, NLP and psychology, and the repeat bookings say it all for the popularity of his shows. His feats are “unfathomable”…
In the real world, Michael lectures in statistics and he was on the staff of Wits University for 3 years, during which time he won the Convocation Best Lecturer Award in the Science Faculty, after being nominated by his students.
He has a BSc. Honours degree in Statistics and Actuarial Science from Wits, as well as various Actuarial Diplomas from the Institute of Actuaries in London. He has also started work on a Masters degree in Statistics.
In the Sporting Arena - Michael has worked as a sports broadcaster on TV and radio for the past 15 years, covering major sporting events in all the major sporting codes. He was the SABC's top English commentator at the Athens Olympic Games, he covered the Springbok rugby tour to the UK and Ireland in 2004 and a soccer tour to the West Indies. Locally, Michael has covered all major cricket, soccer, tennis, rugby, gymnastics and athletics events. He is the only broadcaster in SA sporting history to win the prestigious SAB Radio Broadcaster of the Year award more than 3 times (5 times in seven years between 1998 and 2004 inclusive) and he has also won the Castle Premiership TV Commentator of the Year and the Coca-Cola TV Commentator of the Year 3 times.
A voice artiste and corporate MC at sporting and other functions, he is now heard on MNet’s Supersport. He is the stadium announcer at several cricket stadia and he MC's at all major gymnastics functions.
