An insightful speaker, John Perlman is particularly accomplished as a debate facilitator. Currently the host of 'Today with John Perlman' on KayaFm, he previously hosted AM Live on SAFM for more than 9 years. He also anchored the Round Table on SABC 3 - covering the very latest international and national news, sport and finance and asking the questions people want answered.
In over 10 years as a print journalist, a career which began with the Weekly Mail, he worked at the Saturday Star and the Sunday Independent and also wrote for The Guardian and The Financial Times
John Perlman has also been involved in the world of sport, especially soccer. He was a soccer commentator on SABC Television for ten years and has covered major tournaments, including the European championships, the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup.
Perlman has chaired a large number of public debates involving politicians and business leader and has also addressed a divese range of corporate and public interest audiences and that includes a sell-out talk on 'The Wonder of Radio' in Grahamstown at the National Arts Festival.
John has a BA degree in History and South Sotho and an Honours degree in Development Studies from Wits. He also has a higher diploma in journalism from the City University of London.
He is the founder of the Dreamfields Project, which raises funds for soccer equipment and playing fields for township and rural schools.
