Joey Rasdien is the epitome of South African comedy today. His endearing stage persona is intellectually absurd, physically hysterical and visually beside himself. This belies his other profession… high-level fund management and financial advising.
He has become a face of the new generation, having appeared in many television ads, including Cell C, KFC, Standard Bank, The ICC Cricket World Cup Campaign and Sanlam.
His other television appearances include performances on "Comedy Showcase", "Jerry Springer's Saturday Night", "The Phat Joe Show".
Joey Rasdien was also hired to perform rap in 4 music video recordings for the Department of Health for their AIDS campaign, Khomanani.
This versatile performer was a regular at Comedy Underground venues including Cool Runnings in Melville and The Blues Room in Sandton's Village Walk and to sell out audiences at Carnival City, Morula Sun and Dachs in Pretoria.
He is a regular headliner at Nu Breed Comedy and Munt Comedy evenings targeting the growing black comedy market and one of his biggest comedy gigs thus far was on the Main Arena at the Smirnoff International Comedy Festival in Cape Town.
Joey Rasdien has since become a scriptwriter and performer on the hit comedy sketch show, The Pure Monate Show, on SABC 1; he hosted of his own game show, Go For It, on SABC 2 and he presented the popular live interactive game show, Play TV on SABC 3 and on Jeremy Mansfield’s “Laugh Out Loud” prank TV series.
As versatile as ever, Joey played second lead in the successful film, Dollars and White Pipes, an Anant Singh produced South African feature recently screened on M-Net.
His experience in the financial industry is an advantage when relating to a corporate audience which makes him a sought after facilitator/entertainer at conferences. His corporate clients include SA Post, SAB Miller, Spoornet, FNB, The Gordon Institute of Business and Sasol, amongst others. He was also MC at the recent Golf 5 car launch.
