John Robbie



MTN Radio Awards "Best Beakfast Show Presenter 2011", acclaimed speaker and MC.  Anchor of the morning drive show on South Africa’s most highly-respected talk station, 702.  A great MC, sports quizmaster and after-dinner speaker.

Irish born, John Robbie attended Dublin High School, Trinity College and Christ's College, Cambridge. He played rugby for Ireland, the British Lions and as a reserve for SA.

In 1981, he "saw the light" and made the permanent move to South Africa. In 1987 he was named one of 5 “Players of the Year”.

In 1988, he won the multi-discipline “SuperStars TV Challenge” and was named SA Radio Sports Broadcaster of the Year. The following year he received the same award for TV.

John Robbie wrote "The Game of My Life" in 1988 and hosted the made for TV series, "Supersport Brief" in the same year and in 1989 was awarded the “Sports Journalist of the Year, Radio” award  - an award he also collected 10 years later.

John Robbie is the weekday Breakfast Show host on South Africa's most highly-respected talk station, 702 and also a weekly columnist for The Saturday Star. He is also much in demand as a after-dinner speaker.
