Rhulani Baloyi is a journalist working in both radio and television. On Television, Rhulani has co-hosted "Shift" on SABC1 since 2005 - the aim of the show being to shift the viewer’s mindset. Rhulani can speak, Tsonga, Venda, Sesotho and IsiZulu. Rhulani has been co-hosting the show since its inception in September 2005. Rhulani also reads the SABC Radio News on Radio 2000.
This visually-impaired woman travelled to Australia to cover the World Blind Union Conference for both radio and television and to the United States to cover an international conference on visual disabilities and emerging developments in broadcasting and information technology. Rhulani was also the talk show presenter of SAFM's Intune.
After getting her B.A. and Higher Education Diploma from the University of the Witwatersrand, Rhulani changed tack and became a journalist.
Rhulani has recently been honoured among with other reputable women for the: Rapport/Citypress Prestige Women Award 2008; in 2006, she was awarded the Multilingual Award by the Pan-African Language Board, PANSALB; in the same year, she was also awarded an award for inspiring people with disabilities and making it against all odds by the South African Blind Musicians' Association.
Rhulani has been featured on a few television and radio shows where she had to motivate the audiences. She has also been featured on Noeleen’s 3Talk, on Metro FM and different African language stations.
She has addressed different functions as a motivator such as, the Public Service Commission, the Compensation Fund and the SABC.
