Andy Capostagno

Durban-based

Andy Capostagno has worked in every section of the South African media, but is best known for his television work. He commentates on rugby and cricket for Supersport and appears on the allegedly humorous magazine show, “Super Saturday”, alongside such luminaries as Neil Andrews and Terry Paine MBE.

He has written three books: “Jonty in Pictures”, an illustrated biography of South Africa’s greatest ever fielder, “Memorable Moments in One Day Cricket”, an illustrated history of the short form of the game published to coincide with the 2003 World Cup, and “Fancourt: The Road to the Presidents Cup”.

The latter, complete with a forward by Fancourt member and golfing legend, Ernie Els, was a history of South Africa’s premier golf estate, linking it back to the development of the Garden Route and forward to the hosting of the 2003 Presidents Cup golf tournament.

Andy is the rugby correspondent of the Mail and Guardian newspaper and contributes regularly to the magazines SA Rugby and SA Cricket. He is also the South African correspondent for the UK based property magazine, “Homes Overseas” and sits on the judging panel for the magazine’s annual awards. Major winners in the golf course/lifestyle development section in the last two years include Pezula and Simbithi.

Andy is a sought after Master of Ceremonies for sports functions adding his fabled wit to proceedings the length and breadth of the country. He lives in the village of Hilton, outside Pietermaritzburg, with his wife, daughter, two Dobermans and a cat.
