Eugene has appeared on many of the top American talk shows including ‘the Tonight Show with Jay Leno’, the ‘Ellen deGeneres Show’, the ‘Today Show’ and The ‘Martha Stewart Show’. Learn from the chimpanzee hierarchy how to apply lessons from nature to our own corporate environments - yes..."monkey business".
Eugene Cussons was born into a family deeply rooted in the African conservation ethic. Over generations, that family has transformed its estate on the eastern border of South Africa into a game reserve. Now, under Eugene’s management, the reserve has become South Africa’s first chimpanzee sanctuary.
He now flies to any African country to rescue chimps held in illegal captivity, or endangered by war or economic distress.
Whilst studying for a degree in Business Management and Economics at the University of Pretoria, he decided that he didn’t want to be deskbound for the rest of his working life, so he returned to the family game reserve to combine his management skills with his love for the outdoors.
In 2008, Eugene Cussons was voted best actor/presenter Actor/Host, Animals/Nature by the CableFAX television awards that honoured him for his work in season one of ‘Escape to Chimp Eden’ series. After completing season 2 of ‘Escape to Chimp Eden’, Eugene Cussons chose to end his exclusivity agreement with Animal Planet to focus on his work in chimpanzee conservation and to complete his autobiography as part of an agreement with Penguin books.
