Dr. Martyn Davies

Dr Martyn Davies is a globally recognised executive strategist, keynote speaker, and thought leader with over 25 years of experience advising governments, multinational corporations, and global institutions. He brings unique, boardroom-tested insights to audiences navigating transformation, complexity, and strategic growth.

Currently serving as Vice President at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) in Saudi Arabia, Dr Davies plays a critical role in shaping economic development, citizen engagement, and sectoral strategies aligned with Vision 2030—one of the world’s most ambitious national transformation agendas.

Previously a Senior Partner and Managing Director at Deloitte, Dr Davies held multiple leadership positions, including Chief Economist for Africa, Automotive Industry Leader, and Dean of the Deloitte School of Leadership. He was the top revenue-generating Partner in Deloitte Africa for three consecutive years, advising the C-suites of listed companies and public institutions on growth, innovation, and risk in high-stakes environments.

Dr Davies’ expertise spans the full spectrum of corporate strategy—from energy and infrastructure to financial services, mobility, and sustainability. His deep experience includes landmark transactions and national strategy design, such as:

  • Advising on a US$877 million Chinese investment in South Africa’s mining sector

  • Leading the development of Botswana’s economic diversification blueprint

  • Driving Afreximbank’s five-year corporate strategy

  • Supporting the establishment of the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers (AAAM)

He is a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, a longstanding member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation (YPO), and a senior fellow at Mastercard’s Centre for Inclusive Growth. Dr Davies also maintains academic links through teaching roles at IE Business School (Madrid) and the University of Johannesburg, and has lectured at Harvard, Oxford, and MIT.

Holding a PhD in economics, with executive education from Harvard, Oxford, Yale, and Nanyang Technological University, he brings rare depth and credibility to every engagement.

A British-South African dual national, Dr Davies is based in Riyadh. Outside of work, he’s a competitive cyclist who has represented South Africa at the UCI World Cycling Championships.
