Jeremy Maggs

A highly-requested chairperson, conference MC/Facilitator and speaker.

Jeremy Maggs is seen daily on eNCA where he hosts ‘Live at Lunchtime’ from 13h00-14h00. In addition he presents TV’s longest-running marketing and media magazine show, “Maggs on Media”.

Maggs has been a journalist for over 30 years and has worked across all media platforms – newspapers, radio, television and magazines.

He started his career as a cadet reporter on The Herald newspaper in Port Elizabeth and later moved to the Sunday Tribune in Durban. Then followed 10 years at Radio 702 where he rose to Head of News. He was instrumental in developing the Eyewitness News brand.

Television followed where he assumed the mantle as lead anchor on ‘am-today on SABC2 ‘ – the respected morning news and current affairs programme. Later he hosted the South African incarnation of hit television quiz show ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ which ran for over 100 episodes.

During that time, he joined SABC radio and started the long running Sunday morning show, ‘media@safm’ which focussed on the advertising and communications industries. He also presented ‘PM Live’ and then ‘AM Live’ – at that time the country’s most influential current affairs show, which included the After 8 Debate.

He left the SABC in April 2008 to join eNCA.

As advertising and media writer on the Financial Mail, Maggs is the editor of the authoritative yearly industry review ‘Ad Focus’.

In 2017 he was inducted into the Liberty Radio Awards Hall of Fame and also won the best news and current affairs programme category for his show ‘The Power Update’ which he presented for a year on Power 98.7 FM.

Maggs has been an eyewitness to many of the big pre- and post-democracy stories in South Africa and has interviewed all South Africa’s presidents since 1994.
