Kim Potgieter

Head of Life Planning for a financial advice company which views retirement planning as a holistic process, Kim is able to combine her two passions: studying the relationship people have with their money and advising people on how to get the most life from their money in RetiremeantTM.  Her vision is to change the way people view retirement in South Africa. She strongly believes that it should be seen as a new life chapter, encouraging her clients to retire to something and not from something.

Kim is a registered Financial Life Planner, a Certified Financial Planner® a Professional Certified Coach (PPC)TM through the International Coach Federation, a certified ‘Dare to Lead’TM facilitator and a New Money Story® mentor coach.

She is well-qualified to guide people in pursuing the life they truly desire by helping them put their money in the right place. Her Industrial and Clinical Psychology degrees further enable her to assist clients in merging their money with meaning, bringing a fresh perspective to retirement.

Kim also founded a forum for women in the financial services industry where members meet through organised events and are able to share experiences and learn from one another.

Her first book ‘Retiremeant: get more meaning from your money’ (Jacana) was published in 2015. In addition, she regularly writes in journals such as The Financial Planner and has made numerous television and radio appearances. Kim runs retirement preparation workshops for corporate clients and advises clients on what she believes defines a successful in that pursuit. She also runs workshops for financial planners, encouraging them to engage in life-planning discussions to help clients get a return on their investment and a return on life.

Kim is a creative thinker who is exceptionally well-read on international trends within holistic retirement and life planning. This enables her to bring a fresh global perspective to conventional financial planning methodology.
