Paul Almeida has been deejaying since 1988 in a number of nightclubs around South Africa. Paul`s passion has always been music, since he watched the legendary Maurizio play at the Italian Club. He is heard weekly on Hot 91.9FM “Playing Joburg’s Best Old Skool and R&B’.

Starting his deejaying career in the late 80s at the Carlton Ice rink, Paul quickly established himself as one of the top commercial deejays in South Africa.

His love for the 80s sound elevated his passion for music and clubbing. Paul got his first DJ gig at San Lorenzo in Hillbrow in 1987. But the magic didn`t stop there. Paul has played at all the top clubs in Johannesburg and around Southern Africa including, Q`s, The Thunder Dome, The Dome, Caesar`s Palace, Berlins, Chillers and the White Horse Inn.

Paul is a fundi in the High Energy, Italo and Euro Dance genres and his first album “Dance Connexion Vol.1” hit the circuit in the late 80s. This was followed by the massive rave series “Mother Mix”.

Paul has worked for record labels EMI and Gallo Records and has been involved in 240 released albums including worldwide brands such as Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi and many others and was lucky enough to be part of 5fm for six years, contributing to shows hosted by Tich Mataz and Sasha Martinengo. His mixes are were also featured on Jacaranda and East Coast Radio.

Paul has collaborated with legendary South African music icon David Gresham on the “Back to the Eighties” album and was a major contributor to SABC 3`s brand new dance show Total Dance and has his own music trivia board game and TV show.

Paul is responsible for discovering South Africa`s big talent ChianoSky, who signed the very first ever 360 degree deal with EMI Records South Africa.
